International Association of Waterworks in the Rhine catchment area (IAWR) represents about 120 waterworks from the 6 riparian states Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, France, Germany and the Netherlands. In this region about 30 million people for their drinking water supply depend upon the water of the Rhine, its tributaries as well as the lakes within its catchment area. The IAWR feels committed to a sustainable water economy. Water Supply and Sanitation Technology Platform (WSSTP)
The overall objective of the EU Technology Platform will be to face the global challenge of ensuring safe and secure water supply for different uses and sanitation services through the development of sustainable technologies. Its aim is to promote step changes in the technological capacity of the European Water industry, with the aim of supporting and strengthening its competitiveness in the world market.

SUSPRISE
The ERANET SUSPRISE (The Sustainable Enterprise) is a network of national and regionalresearch and development programs from 9 European countries, working together bycoordinating their research in order to support trans-national R&D cooperation betweenindustries (in particular SMEs) and research organizations. SUSPRISE is a leading facilitator in the process of making European industry more competitive and sustainable by setting the research agenda of tomorrow and by moving innovative sustainable technologies towards practical implementation. SUSPRISE offers trans-national collaboration through national funding organization. SUSPRISE encourages companies and researcher to share risks, costs and expertise by building up tailor made European projects.
A call is designed for projects in industrial and pre-competitive research and dedicated to the thematic fields of water technologies and efficient use of raw materials.
